TSO MORIRI lake

Tsomoriri Lake stands out as one of the most surreal destinations in Ladakh. Nestled on the Changthang plateau at an elevation of approximately 4,000 meters, this breathtaking lake spans about 19 kilometers in length and reaches widths of up to 8 kilometers. Surrounded by barren hills capped with snow, the area is a sanctuary for an array of migratory birds and rare wildlife, resulting in a truly mesmerizing landscape.

This striking blue-hued lake is part of the Tsomoriri Wetland Conservation Reserve, designated as a Ramsar site, and holds the distinction of being the highest Ramsar site in the world. In contrast to the more famous Pangong Lake, Tsomoriri remains relatively unknown, leading to fewer crowds. Visitors can observe a diverse range of species here, including the bar-headed goose, brown-headed gull, great crested grebe, and substantial populations of Himalayan hares.
